American People's Encyclopedia outside covers
This one-of-a-kind journal is upcycled from a discarded copy of the 1954 "American People's Encyclopedia."
I embellished the cover by rubbing on acrylic paint to bring out the embossing, by drawing stems with markers and metallic pens, and with pieces of vintage lace, gold ribbon, and craft jewels.
I bound the nine signatures of pages (a term for groups of pages folded together) to the cover using long and kettle stitches.  These are visible on the spine.
