This one-of-a-kind
journal is upcycled from a discarded copy of a 1911
book by L. Frank Baum, author of the Wizard of Oz
series.
I embellished the ornate front cover with a pink and white polka dot ribbon which also serves as anchors for the stitches holding the blank pages to the cover. |

I bound the five signatures of pages
(a term for groups of pages folded together) to
the cover using long and kettle stitches.
These are visible on the spine. |

The
pages of the journal are made from gold-colored,
marbled paper hand torn along a straight and
variegated edge to the size of the cover. I include out-of-context quotes from the original book on several of the pages. These can be used as writing prompts. |

Writers may react for or against the
prompts or ignore them all together. |

meandering thought journey. |

Note: I give
the page number of each quote, when available, and list
the publication information on the last page of the
journal. On the last page of the journal is my unique signature medallion, which also indicates the year I made the book. |

I used a copy onto
cardstock of my original watercolor and painting on
the inside front and back covers and to reinforce the
spine.
The journal has an attached beaded ribbon bookmark. |

include a paper bookmark listing the book's main
features. Dimensions of the journal are approximately 9" x 6.5" x 1.2". |
