Countries and Their Children outside covers
This is a one-of-a-kind journal upcycled from a discarded volume of "The Child's World" encyclopedia, "Countries and Their Children."  I left the cover primarily as I found it but with some pages from the original book peeking around the edges and with orange bias tape strips to serve as anchors for the binding.

open pages
I bound the pages into the book cover using long and kettle stitches.  These are visible on the spine.  The book block (a term meaning all the pages of a book as a whole) contains six signatures (a term for groups of pages folded together).
