Economics of Money and Banking outside covers
This one-of-a-kind journal is upcycled from a discarded 1968 textbook, "The Economics of Money and Banking."
In keeping with the title I embellished the cover with my rendition of what we might see "if money grew on trees."  I used textured acrylic paint, acrylic-painted glued tissue paper, and small, shimmering, multicolored beads.
I bound the eight signatures of blank pages (a term for groups of pages folded together) to the cover using long and kettle stitches over the ribbon anchors.  These are visible on the spine.

I used a copy onto cardstock of my original watercolor and marker mandala drawing to line the inside front and back covers and to reinforce the spine.

On the last page of the journal is my unique signature medallion, which also indicates the year I made the book.
The journal has an attached beaded ribbon bookmark.

bookmark
I include a paper bookmark listing the book's main features.
I see I could have marked "special paper" for the green paper I used for the pages, but I didn't.  Beats me why.

Dimensions of the journal are approximately 9.5" x 7" x 1.2".
