Etiquette for Moderns outside covers
If you want "to write the book" for your family, job, even yourself--here's the book to use!  This is a one-of-a-kind journal upcycled from the very informative 1941 book, "Etiquette for Moderns."
To embellish the cover I glued on an image of a young person who I'm sure is just learning her p's and q's with her spoon at the table.  I've given her a gold-star button and some confetti gold stars on the spine.  I've also glued on cut outs from a copy of my own original watercolor and marker drawing.

I hand tore the pages of the journal to the size of the cover from cream-colored paper and bound them into the book cover using long and kettle stitches.  These are visible on the spine.  The book block (a term meaning all the pages of a book as a whole) contains seven signatures (a term for groups of pages folded together).

wise-person quote
I include out-of-context quotes from the original book on several of the pages.
These can be used as writing prompts. (Note: the pages of the original book were brittle with age--and use?--and did not always tear nicely.)

Writers may react for or against the prompts or ignore them all together.

inside front
I used a copy onto cardstock of my original watercolor and marker drawing to line the front and back covers and to reinforce the spine.

On the last page is my unique signature medallion, which also indicates the year I made the book.
The journal has an attached beaded ribbon bookmark with some beads hand rolled from the pages of the original book.  After hand rolling the beads I watercolored them and then drew on them with pens and markers.
