This is a one-of-a-kind watercolor journal upcycled from, believe it or not, a used, discarded, probably somewhat outdated technical book, "Quick Cobol." (Yes, indeed, in a past life I worked for a computer company, as an engineer no less!) I covered the book covers inside and out with pages from another book, as you might guess. I then used markers and watercolor paint to have fun making a zig-zag pattern. I varnished the cover so it will resist casual water damage. |

The pages of the journal are 140 lb., cold-press watercolor paper. I have hand torn each page to fit the size of the book. I bound the pages into the book cover using a cross-variant of long and kettle stitches. These are visible on the spine over ribbons, which serve to anchor the cover to the book block (a term which means all the pages of a book as a whole). The book block contains four signatures (a term for groups of pages). |

I include out-of-context quotes from the original book on some of the pages. |

Or they may use the quote as the starting point for a meandering thought journey. Note: I give the page number of each quote, when available, and list the publication information on the last page of the journal. |

Over the inside front and back covers I have glued additional watercolor paper so the artist may further enhance the book. On the inside back cover is my unique signature medallion, which also indicates the year I made the book. The journal has an attached beaded ribbon bookmark. |

I include a paper bookmark listing the book's main features. Dimensions of the journal are approximately 8.75" x 5.5" x 1". Oh, look, I made an error on the bookmark. The cover paper while bordered with pages from another upcycled book journal is mainly a blank piece of watercolor paper. I will correct the bookmark delivered with the journal. |
