This is a one-of-a-kind journal made from a discarded copy of the 1955 book "Sportsmanlike Driving," put out by the American Automobile Association for use in drivers ed. classes.  Sportsmanlike Diving - outside cover
(Yes, this entire book was intended for driving students and starts with how a motor is put together!)

I bound the pages into the book cover using a long cross-variant of  and kettle stitches.  These are visible on the spine over ribbons, which serve to anchor the cover to the book block (a term which means all the pages of a book as a whole).  The book block contains six signatures (a term for groups of pages).

The paper for the pages is green-marbled and cardstock weight.  So, it will resist bleed through when markers are used.

On several pages are out-of-context quotes that I have selected from the original book.

I have used pages from the original book on the inside front and back covers and to reinforce the spine.

Note, I give the page number of each quote, when available, and list the publication information on the last page of the journal.

On the last page is my unique signature medallion, which also indicates the year I made the book.

The journal has an attached ribbon beaded bookmark.
