This is a
one-of-a-kind journal made from a rescued volume of
the 1910 "Twelve Centuries of English Poetry and
Prose".
I have adorned the original cover with scrap pieces of brown, patterned mat board, gold brads, and part of a discarded earring. The gold-edged ribbon, in addition to adorning the cover, serves to anchor the long-stitch and kettle-stitch binding, visible on the spine. |

The pages
of the journal are made from water-stressed paper.
To
water stress I dip each page in acrylic-colored water
for a few minutes and then hang it on a folding clothes
rack to dry. I personally like not only the look of water-stressed paper but also the sound and feel when I write on it. A multi-sensory experience! |

I include out-of-context quotes from the
original book on some of the pages to be used as
writing prompts (or for possible use in a game of
"name the author"?). |

Quotes may prompt
old memories or new dreams. |

Note: I give
the page number of each quote, when available, and list
the publication information on the last page of the
journal. |
|
Covering the
inside of the front and back covers are pages from the
original book. At the bottom of the last page is my unique signature medallion, which also states the year I made the journal. The journal has an attached beaded ribbon bookmark. |

Back to the Top | I include a
paper bookmark listing the journal's main features.
Dimensions of the journal are approximately 8.5" x 6" x 1.75". |
