This is a one-of-a-kind journal, upcycled from a rescued February, 1975, National Geographic magazine.
|Back to the Top||I have
included out-of-context quotes from the original text on
several of the pages.
This one reads, "Ate too much, ate too fast: Nearly sated, contestants prepare to bite the dust."
|Back to the Top||Writers may
use the quotes as writing prompts for inspiration or
reflection, as points of agreement or disagreement, or
simply as places to begin a meandering thought journey.
|Back to the Top||I give the
page number of each quote, when available. The
publication information appears on the inside front
I tore by hand each paper along a straight-edge ruler to give the pages a rough texture along one side.
|Back to the Top||I bound the
book using a traditional Japanese stab binding stitch
with metallic thread.
I collaged images and text from the magazine over the advertising on the outside and inside of the back cover. The outside of the cover also includes a copy one of my original mandala drawings.
The front cover has a glass bead embellishment.
|Back to the Top||On the last
page is my unique signature medallion, which also states
the year I made the book.
