This collection of five unique little books are made from odds and ends in my studio.
I bound each using a drum-fold, paste technique. This means that papers are glued together making each page a double thickness and, thus, resistant to ink bleed through.
|Back to the Top||The covers of these books are from wall
covering samples. The covering on the left is
vinyl and the one on the right is a bamboo-like
I made the embellishment on the left from a substance called "paper clay," which I molded, let dry, and painted with acrylic paints. Its pages are a gold marbled color.
The flowers on the right I cut from a scrap of decorative plastic "paper" and glued a jewel in the center of each. The yarn on the right came from an "end" I was given. Its paper is also gold marbled.
The book on the left measures approximately 5.1" x 2.75" x .25"; on the right, approximately 4.5" x 2.5" x .25".
|Back to the Top||The cover of
this book is made from a remnant of fabric I was given
of several "frames." I further enhanced the cover
with part of a discarded jewelry pin.
The pages are a gold marbled color.
The book measures approximately 4.75" x 3.25" x .25".
||Both these books have copies of my own
original drawings on their covers. On the left is
my pen and marker mandala drawing and on the right is my
soft pastel drawing of ripe garden tomatoes. A
copy of the tomatoes is on both the front and back
covers. The book on the left has a base covering
of a decorative plastic "paper." The mandala book
measures approximately 2.9" x 2.75" x .3". The
tomato book measures approximately 2.5" x 3.6" x .2".
|Back to the Top||All the books have my own unique signature medallion on the inside back cover. The medallion also shows the year I made the book.|
